Define not working. No output? Upscaling won’t be quite as good as native but adaptors are fairly cheap. Make sure it upscales and not just convert. The first will probably require power and some do not come with a power source (either a power or USB cable).
Also, maybe check it’s not the HDMI cable itself that’s the problem. Good luck
